The Oscars; an event where the rich and famous come together to collect awards, fake sincerity and have their egos massaged, tickled and inflated to satisfy their needs of self-worth. What a load of bollocks.
This year’s Oscars (March 2022) was as predictable as usual - from what I've read, I didn’t have time to waste watching that shite; some of us have real jobs to do. There was the standard before show red carpet catwalk filled with epileptic inducing flashlights, impractical outfits and questions like “Who are you wearing?” - kinda Hannibal Lecter-esque. They had the token ‘edgy’ host(s) employed to carry the circus - for 3+ hours 🤦♂️ - while trying to coax a few gasps with ‘dicey’, moral challenging monologues and of course, there was the live - most likely lip-synced - acts and scripted acceptance speeches designed to make the winner look humble, appealing and human-like to the public - nice try.
However, it wasn’t all teeth, tan and tits there was in fact one standout moment within the charade that actually added a bit of excitement to the proceedings - and no doubt you've probably already heard about it.
In an out of character act of madness - which could have also been staged, you never know these days -, Will Smith leapt from his seat in the audience, invaded the stage and ‘smacked the shit’ out of Chris Rock following a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith (Will’s wife) that Will initially seemed to have enjoyed but then had a sudden change of heart - this part of The Oscars is well worth a watch.
Of course, it didn’t take long for the drama to spread worldwide and within hours social media was in uproar, divided over who was right and who was in the wrong. Some were saying that Will should have never resorted to violence and others claimed Chris was to blame for taunting Will in the first place.
Personally, I don’t care either way, though it did make for some good viewing. Perhaps in the future, there should be more celebrities getting a slap for chatting shit at award shows and other such events, that way at least we would have something entertaining to talk about while we are being distracted and mislead away from real-world problems with meaningless Hollywood dramas.
Just a thought 🤔.
The Oscars: What a load of bollocks.

Your sentiment about these stupid award shows mirrors my own. The most useless parade of pomp on television.
However, I avoid celebrity and news so much that I didn't hear about the Will Smith thing. Off too Google for that recap 😁
I googled after I heard about it this morning. Now, anyone else would have finished watching in jail after he punched someone. That's Hollywood for ya.
